Updated skin care!

Helluur!

Yes SKIN! Either our greatest friend or our worst enemey.

In my previous skin care routine I spoke about Neutrogena and how I felt about it,all things positive (I will link that post below). Although it felt good on my skin, it wasn’t helping with anything!

I went to a dermatologist, only because I was breaking out so badly and didn’t know what to do anymore. She gave me a presciption and recommended I use Eucerin.

Guys! Eucerin is bomb. Ofcourse the tablets and ointment I was using saved my skin, but Eucerin helped to maintain it.

I still use Bio-Oil and it helps reduce my scars and dark spots. I usually add 1 or 2 drops of it into my moisturizer or I apply it before I go to sleep.

Eucerin Adjunctive Hydrating Care
This is specially formulated for dehydrated skin due to the treatment of acne. It’s oil and fragrance free. It contains SPF30 UVB + UVA, protecting your skin from harmful UV-radiation. This is so moitsturizing without making your skin oily or sticky. It can even be used as a primer. I mix this with a bit of sunblock for that extra protection 😌.

Eucerin Cleanser

It’s soap and fragrance free. Cleanses gently and effectively eliminates excess sebum. Sebum is a fatty, oily substance secreted to form a thin film protecting your skin from dryness. However, excess sebum causes blackheads and acne. It is non-comedogenic with 6% Ampho-Tenside. Ampho-Tenside helps eliminate excess sebum and non-comedogenic simply means, that this cleanser doesn’t contain products that will clog your pores. There’s not much to say about it other than it really cleanses your skin and helps to remove makeup.

Bio-Oil

This helps to reduce the appearence of scars, stretch marks, uneven skin tone, ageing skin and dehydrated skin. Bio-Oil definitely does what it says, but ofcourse it doesn’t work overnight. In order to see improvements you need to be consistent and it says to apply twice daily for a minimum of 3 months. I only apply this at night, directly to my face after using the cleanser. I love how hydrating it feels and 1 drop is enough to keep you feeling juicy.

Overrall I love these 3 products. It really works for my type of skin- dry and acne prone. I definitely recommend Eucerin. It is quite pricey, but long lasting โ˜บ👍. My previous skin care routine-https://mblairett.wordpress.com/2016/07/08/skin-care/

Scruba Dub Dub!

I’m baccck 😌!

Yes I’m back and I’m here with a homemade lip scrub . Yeah, you read write a lip scrub 🎉.

All the ingredients used can be found in your kitchen. Seriously, it doesn’t get better than that. This lip scrub or body scrub I invented exfoliates your skin like no other, plus it softens and leaves your skin smelling greaaat 👍.

Before I get started this was just a spur of the moment idea, it worked for me so I don’t know if it will work for you, but it’s worth the try.

Lip/Body Scrub Tutorial

You will need half a lemon, sugar, coffee(any type of coffee is ok), vaseline and a container.

1.
Add your preferable anount of sugar and coffee to your container. Your ratio of sugar to coffee should be 2:1.

2. Squeeze 3 to 4 drops of lemon juice into the mixture and add half a teaspoon of vaseline.

3. Stir the mixture into a sugary paste and voula!

You can play around with the ingredients and replace coffee for cinnamon and so forth.

These steps are quick and easy. It will leave your lips feeling smooth and the lemon adds a refreshing scent.

Corny New Year Post

Happy New Year 🎉😘!

This year will be my final year in high school and will probably be my most stressful year ever. With school starting in a weeks time, projects being handed to us the first week, sport practise and cheerleading, I can already feel how dreadful this year is going to be, BUT it’s also going to be an amazing 12 months. It’s my final year and I’m going to make the most of it!!

I want to make my 2k17 a blast and end it with a big bang! Resolutions weren’t made because we all know that never works out 😂💀; instead of making New Year resolutions that fail why don’t we just let things be. Live life and enjoy the new year without forcing yourself to abide by these stupid ‘rules’ we set out.

Make 2017 your year! Do something you would never do in a million years, go exploring, talk to a stranger because you might not see that stranger again 😐.

…point is, be daring and take a risk once in a while👌.

I wish EVERYONE, the good, the evil, the wicked, the compassionate, enemies and lovers, a splendid new year. May you find peace from within and be open minded.

Be safe though, don’t take sweets from a stranger and don’t do what those people do on Ridiculousness, because that’s just stupid ;). (my first post for 2k17 btw โค)

I finally did my hair!

This festive season, I wanted to do something daring and change up my look. I’ve been wanting to do braids for a long time now, but never had the time or energy to go through with it.

I did a lot of googling for inspiration on what style I should do and what attracted me immediatly was the twists. It’s a method in which your hair is twisted using fibre (synthetic hair strands).

I finally braided my hair the style I wanted. I done the twists, using the South Africa brand X-Pression. I went with a dark brown, loong look.

This is what I wanted, long sleek twists.

I actually like it but boy does my sculp ache. I sat for hours while people worked together to finish up the job 😂. YES, it took more than one person to finish up my hair. It was a new experience for me, doing my hair in ways other than just my usual hairstyles. Atleast I don’t have to worry about what to do with my hair every morning, I can just wake up leave my braids hanging freely and go😌😌.

I got a lot of advice from friends on what to expect. I expected to have a horrible first time but it actually wasn’t that bad. Yes it hurts slightly but it was worth it, because it’s a new look for me and it’s different.

There are a few things I would  like to tweek a bit, such as have a uniform thickness from the roots to the ends, as it does start off thick and ends thin, overral I am happy with the look and would braid my hair again.

My natural hair ends just at the base of my neck and my braids end by my butt .

And this is the final product, sleigh this Christmas (sorry I had to say the pun 😒😂)

This season feel inspired to try new looks. Take the risks and be daring, because technically it is your last chance to end off 2016 with a BANG 😝. By changing  your appearence it can spark up a new bit of self-confidence you never knew you had. So moral of this post is to GO FOR IT!! What ever it is you aim for.

Make It Happen!!

The holiday has come to an end, unfortunately and school begins on Monday….
I haven’t done much this holiday, but what I did enjoy was spending time with my friends and being on my own. I went to the beach and it felt so good to just CHILL for a sec.

We are at Lagoon Beach.

School hasn’t even started yet and I can already feel the pressure. The previous term I worked so hard and stayed determined, but trying to keep that work ethic up is going to be difficult.

For the following school months I plan on working extra hard. My faith is on a high, because I aspire to be so much in life and to be successful but it gets harder day by day.

This term is going to be extremely hectic, because it’s just 3 weeks until we write our final exam for the year, I have cheerleading auditions and our school will be announcing people for a bunch of leadership positions.

My goals for this term is that I end it with a BANG! I want to be able to juggle sport, academics and yet still have fun, it seems impossible but I’m going to try my best.

At this very moment I feel so motivated and wanting to push myself, because I’m setting these expectations and challenges for myself, with the mindset of ‘you will reach the top, despite stumbling along the way there.’

The next few months should be about “I CAN DO IT AND I’M GOING TO DO IT”. I hope everyone is feeling as motivated as I am and that you push yourself to get to where you want to be, and the only place that should be is on the street of ‘my best’ to the empire of success 😝🙏👌.

Pioneer School for the Visually Impaired

Before we got to the school we made a quick pit stop at a road side restaurant/store. My friend and I took advantage of this and took a lot of pictures 😌.

Hey there my fellow bloggers! I haven’t been posting a lot lately simply because school has kept me sooo busy . This post is going to be about my experience spending a day at a school for the visually impaired, so here it goes 💭.

This is my friend and I, we went together with a few other people from our school.

The school we went to is quite big, but we only remained  in one section of the school. We got a tour of that section and the teachers at the school explained to us how the students go about in the school, how they play their sports and how certain things are adapted for them. We were taught how to lead a blind person, it was really fun because we had to partner up with one of our friends and each one had a chance to be blindfolded and one had to lead the other.

We got cards with the alphabet and numbers in braille.

Each student from my school got paired up with a student from the Pioneer School and we basically had to follow them, go to their classes and spend the day with them.

My host was partially blind but others did get blind hosts. My host was so naughty 😂. He tried to bunk a class with one of his friends once and I had to be with him the entire day because his my host so I couldn’t do much about it. His extremely funny too 😂.

We learnt cool things like a bible for us is typically one book, but to have a full bible in braille, would be 52 separate books. So blind people can’t take a bible if they go to church 😮.

The amount of students in their class is extremely small. Their classes consists of 5 to 10 kids in one class, whereas we have like 30 in a class. In one class, they get taught how to face the outside world, like crossing the street and knowing the street names, malls, etc.

We didn’t take any pictures in the school, so these pictures were taken before we got there.

Overrall it was an amazing experience and we learnt new things. I would definitely visit the school again.

Lets go hiking?

Recently I went hiking for the first time and it was such an amazing experience.

Cape Town

I’m not sure how many kilometres we walked, but it felt like we walked forever. Luckily I made it and without complaining!

The entire hike was basically walking uphill and surprisingly I completed it. The view was spectacular and just inhaling fresh air and not being cooped up in my little nest felt great.

I went hiking with a few of my friends and we made a few pit stops to take in the amazing view and for pictures too :):).

The scary thing about it all was that the path was so narrow and that if you tripped to the side, you would definitely fall off the hill and it would be a loong way down 🗻.

My friends and I, I’m the third person from the front

After the hike my legs ached so badly. Overrall I had a fun and adventurous day 🙏😌. For the hike I wore a pink Adidas cap, a grey top with pink and white writing that says “Too Fit Too Quit”, a 3/4 grey black gyming tights and a pair of Nike shoes.

Taking in the view

P.S. The view was amazing and it looked even better in person than in the picture 🙌:).

Blood can be an ikky subject…

The last time I donated blood was in February and it was an overwhelming experience. It made me feel good that I could possibly save a life but the fact that thick needles were stabbed into my skin scared the heck out of me.

I’m usually not scared of needles, but when the nurse pierced one of those bad boys into my skin I was about to cry like a baby. The sensation is nauseating. The machines that draw your blood take in more blood than what I drink water a day.

When I was all done they gave me a cookie and a juice box :). I did feel like fainting, but I tried my best not to because that would be embarrassing LOL.

Despite all the freaks of it all, donating blood for a good cause is something I would definitely do again and I think others should too. Donate blood, because you will definitely feel like a hero knowing you could possibly save a life.

P.S. I hope I didn’t convince anyone not to donate blood, but that was my honest opinion of my experience. Don’t forget to donate…

‘Finding myself’?

To most, I probably had the most boring holiday ever and yes it is true, but honestly I enjoyed staying at home for 3 weeks straight.

I decided to spend this holiday re-evaluating myself and figuring out where I’m going with my life and what I want to become when I’m done with high school. In other words I was trying to ‘find myself’.

During these 3 splendid weeks I thought about my life and what I’ve been doing for these past 16 years and honestly I don’t think I really ‘found myself’ completely…I don’t think anyone can ‘find’ themself COMPLETELY.

What I have learned is that I should focus more on the things I enjoy the most, I should quit the things I’ve been doing wrong and take more risks and be daring. Starting a blog was pretty daring to me, so YAY, an accomplishment on that.

If you ever need to ‘find’ yourself and just think about your life, the best way to do it, is to do nothing during your spare time and just think or do what you enjoy the most. Pick an environment that is both calming and your favourite place to be (mine would be my room).

That’s pretty much it, just an update on what I’ve been up to these past few weeks โ˜•😌💭.

Skin Careย

I live by my skin care products, because it’s a combination of different products suited for my type of skin. On most days my skin is oily and on others it gets quite dry, this post will be about my skin care routine and how these products help with my problem. I hope this can also help others facing the same problem as me โ˜บ.

Neutrogena Facial Scrub

I absolutely love this exfoliater. It contains microbeads so it feels like I’m really getting rid of all that dead skin and scum. I usually use this when I feel really ikky or just after I removed my makeup.

Neutrogena Facial Wash

This is also really great but not as good as the scrub. I use this every morning and at night for my oilness. It smells amazing too…all the neutrogena products that I use has the pink grapefruit scent in it and it is soo goood.

 Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer

OMG 😵, guys this moisturizer is soo fucking good. This is the best moisturizer I have ever used. It honestly is oil-free and it smells sooo niiiccee 😍. I use this mostly at night though. The first time I tried it, it had a stingy sensation on my skin (not a bad one but it stiiings) and if you put it too close to your eyes it burns sligtly. The sensation did feel good though, because I felt like it was cleansing my face further and stinging the bacteria away (in my mind).

Bio-Oil

Most of you heard about Bio-Oil or have it, but it’s seriously a great product. I use this mainly of my face because of all my blemishes and scarring I have from my acne. This really helps with giving me an even skin tone. I use this whenever and I only take 2 drops of this into my palm and lightly massage it into my skin.

Johnson’s Even Complexion Day Cream

This product isn’t great, but it’s ok when I have dry skin. Too much of it though will make you feel greasy af. I use this product when I’m feeling crusty and only use one small squeeze of it ( a little goes a long way), I massage it gentlely into my skin. I put this on my skin right before I’m about to do my makeup and it’s just for added moisture. The good thing about it, is that it smells nice too and has SPF in it👌.

P.S. I got my Neutrogena products all in one pack, I don’t know if they still sell it or if it was like a limited edition type of thing but overrall it was amazing 🙌.

Hoped this helped anyone with the same problems I was facing โค.
